Wayanad – Kakkadampoyil – Calicut 4 Nights/ 5 Days

Day 01: Wayanad

Pickup from Calicut Railway Station / Airport. After breakfast visit Edakkal caves– An interesting trek up the Ambukuthi Hill near Ambalavayal town. It is famous for its pictorial paintings done in the caves-takes you to the fascinating neolithic cave site of Edakkal. Etchings found on the walls of these caves have drawn the serious attention of archaeologists and historians worldwide. After Edakkal proceed to Heritage museum situated in Ambalavayal- one of the largest and best archaeological museums in Kerala. There you can explore the entire Wayanad history. Afternoon have your lunch and visit Soochippara waterfalls, a three-tiered waterfall in Vellarimala, Wayanad, surrounded by Deciduous, Evergreen and Montane forests, where you can take bath too. To reach the waterfalls people have to walk a natural rocky trek path which is a thrilling experience.

Back to the hotel / resort and take rest after the tiresome journey.

Day 02: Wayanad

After breakfast proceed to Banasura Dam, Considered to be the largest earth dam in India and the 2^nd largest in Asia. The view from here is just magical. Speed boat one of the main attraction here, peddle boats are also available. Pookod Lake, the natural freshwater lake is the next sightseeing place to visit. Boating and sightseeing is the main activity here. It is a perfect place for families to chill out. If still time permits move to Lakkidi View Point-just 5kms within the Lakkidi Town. One can have a view of the zig-zag roads from the height.

Day 03: Kakkadampoyil

Have your breakfast. Drive to Kakkadampoyil-The Ooty of Malabar and have a visit to Kozhippara Waterfalls- an ideal location for trekking, rock climbing and swimming. It is one of the best waterfalls, which offer plenty of opportunities to adventure enthusiast. After that visit the Teak Museum about 4 km from the town of Nilambur. It is popular for being the world’s first teak museum and sub center of Kerala Forest Research Institute. Have the lunch and move to Pazhassi Cave-4 kms of Kakkadampoyil-located inside the forest and one can have reach there by 2km of walk from Nayadam poyil village. It is said that the emperor Pazhassi used it to hide from Britishers.

Day 04: Calicut

Pickup from Calicut Railway Station / Airport. After reaching the hotel / resort and having the breakfast move to Mananchira Square, a beautiful park.  It is a fusion of the Mananchira, (a freshwater manmade pond) the nearby Tagore and Ansari parks, and the large maidanam (grounds). The palace tank has a traditional architectural design and is reminiscent of the ancient times. Next move to the sweetest place i.e., Mithai Theruvu (Sweet Street), which is always a perfect place for the sweet lovers. It is one of the busiest places in Calicut, also known to be business hub of the city. After lunch move to Pazhassi Raja Museum, a museum built with Evening move to Kappad Beach, gateway to the Malabar Coast famous for its beauty and it is it was the place where Vasco da Gama, the famous world explorer first set his foot and the legendary Spice Route came into existence. A perfect setting for tourists who wants to enjoy the sunrise or sunset.

Day 05:

Day free for shopping. Drop at Kozhikode railway station/airport.
